Comprehensive Guidance from 3 Months to 18 Years

ACG Parnell provides a nurturing environment where every child can discover their full potential and thrive. We understand that each student is unique, so we take the time to understand their individual needs and provide the right balance of support and challenge.

With this approach, we help your child strengthen their study skills and achieve ambitious personal goals. Our comprehensive curriculum and enrichment programme broaden their learning journey and encourage the discovery of new strengths and abilities from the earliest years.

Tailored Support at Every Stage

At our school, we are committed to helping your child flourish academically and personally. A range of tailored support channels enhances each student’s learning journey, with school leaders closely monitoring both academic progress and pastoral wellbeing. Students are actively involved in every aspect of school life and take pride in belonging to a vibrant, supportive community with exceptional learning resources.

From the moment they join us, your child will be assigned a tutor who provides mentoring and academic support. Deans work alongside tutors and offer further assistance when needed.

If your child requires extra support or faces challenges in specific subjects, we offer additional tutorials. We also provide an ESOL programme for students who would benefit from specialist English language instruction.

Outstanding Pastoral Care and Learning Support

We support children’s learning and development by working closely with families and specialists, incorporating their guidance into our preschool programme. Where appropriate, we make referrals for assessments with the Ministry of Education’s Learning Support team, which provides access to special education services, speech-language therapists, psychologists, and occupational therapists.

Our youngest learners are also supported through the Ministry of Health’s Well Child Tamariki Ora programme, which includes hearing and vision screening as part of the B4 School Check.

Deans play a vital role in our pastoral care framework. Each year level has a dedicated Dean and Assistant Dean, responsible for student welfare, academic progress, and personal development.

International students are supported by a dedicated International Dean who can assist with academic matters, as well as visa and funding queries.

Our Literacy Support Programme is delivered through the English department and is available to students from Year 7 through to the senior years. If your child would benefit from additional support in grammar, spelling, reading comprehension or writing, they may be invited to join the programme.

Students identified for literacy support receive weekly targeted assistance from our specialist literacy teacher, helping to build confidence and strengthen core skills. Teachers monitor progress closely and maintain regular communication with parents.

If your child’s first language is not English, our Intensive English Programme offers targeted support to help them thrive. Delivered by specialist English language teachers, the programme supports students with elementary or intermediate skills before they transition into mainstream classes.

Your child’s progress is assessed regularly, and our team works closely with families to ensure consistent development across reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Our University Placement Advisor is available to meet with you and your child to explore university options in New Zealand and overseas. They can provide guidance on entry requirements and help identify courses that align with your child’s strengths and aspirations. Throughout the year, students can also attend lunchtime sessions with representatives from a range of tertiary institutions, as well as StudyLink.

Parent Partnership

We keep families informed of their child’s progress and highlight any areas requiring attention to ensure every student reaches their full potential. Achievement Conference Days are held twice a year, offering valuable feedback and the opportunity to set goals for continued growth and future learning.

Good Nutrition and After-School Care

To support working families, we offer nutritious lunch options through our school cafeteria. Additionally, our after-school programme at the Primary School operates until 5:30pm, Monday to Friday during term time.
