Currently in the process of enrolling a bevy of ACG’s youngest students, Jane brings a wealth of senior leadership experience to ACG Parnell, having spent the last several years running one of the largest Early Learning Centres in the country. She is thrilled to be involved in the development of the Early Learning School and eager for the inaugural opening.
“Our Early Learning School will offer quality early childhood learning experiences within a world-class environment,” she explains. “We’re delighted to have a range of expert teachers on board to guide, encourage and support our children while providing a structured curriculum inspired by the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy.”
A New Zealand trained, fully registered teacher with over 15 years in early childhood education, Jane is passionate about the quality and performance of educational programmes. She feels it is essential to provide children with an open and dynamic space to help encourage a love of learning.
“The early learning experiences of young children are crucial,” she confirms. “They lay the foundations for continuous, healthy, life-long attitudes and are important in helping each person reach their full potential.”
ACG promotes an inquiry and play-based learning environment which has been carefully designed to capture a child’s natural curiosity, creativity and sense of wonder. This investigative approach allows students to grow their abilities in both an academic context and in that of the wider world.
“Play is an essential part of every child’s life in both learning and development,” says Jane. “Young children make sense of the world through actively playing, interacting and exploring. Play brings enjoyment to a child’s life, and it also has an important role in their physical, social, emotional and intellectual progression.”
“Our investigative programme will empower children, acknowledge their ownership on self-interested topics and motivate their development. It will help them begin to acquire valuable skills such as critical thinking, self-management, social interaction and communication abilities, which form the foundation for formal academic studies and a successful life.”
The creation of a safe, comfortable environment in which children feel a sense of belonging is a top priority for Jane. As is fostering strong relationships with her team, her students, their parents and caregivers to promote the best possible learning outcomes for the youngsters under her care.
A role model for her students, Jane feels it is imperative to show them an inquisitive mindset, an open attitude, and a desire to discover new things.
“It is vital for children to know that it’s okay for all of us to make mistakes in order to become better people in the future,” explains Jane. “The most rewarding aspect of my role is to see the daily smiles on everyone’s faces and know that they are becoming competent and confident individuals, communicators and problem-solvers.”
Described by friends and colleagues as selfless, caring, dedicated, positive and someone who always uplifts those around her, Jane is an active adventurer who enjoys tramping, bush walking and travelling. However, in quieter moments she adores spending quality time with family and friends, listening to music and reading.
When asked about her recent appointment as Early Learning School Manager, Jane simply replies, “I thoroughly love what I am doing, and look forward to starting my journey within the wider community at ACG Parnell Early Learning School.”
