2025 has been a landmark year for ACG Parnell’s archery programme, marking our most successful competitive season to date. With record participation, multiple podium finishes, and national representation, our archers have raised the bar for what’s possible in the sport.

College Sport Auckland Archery League
For the second consecutive year, ACG Parnell’s Recurve team qualified for Division 1, the top level of the College Sport Auckland Archery League. Division 1 is reserved for the six strongest schools out of a total of 30 teams across five divisions - an incredible achievement for our talented group of young archers.

Our Division 1 team - all Year 10 students Arjunveer Grewal, Vicki Zhang, Isabelle Shi, and Ella Qiu - showed great teamwork and consistency throughout the season. They were joined by Sophie Howcroft, Alcide Zhou, and Corren McCartney, who competed as individuals, making this our largest and most dynamic archery squad to date. Later in the season, Seunghye Chang (Year 9) also joined the team, adding further depth and strength.

Auckland Secondary Schools Match Play Championships
Seunghye quickly made an impact, claiming bronze in the Individual Recurve at the Auckland Secondary School Match Play Championships. With 85 entrants competing in the largest and most competitive discipline of the event, her result was an outstanding achievement and signalled the growing strength of our archery programme.

SPC Archery Invitational Cup
For the first time, ACG Parnell was invited to the prestigious SPC Archery Invitational Cup - and our team made a strong debut.

• Individual Recurve – Bronze Medal: Seunghye
• Recurve Team Event – Bronze Medal: Seunghye, Ella, Vicki, Arjunveer, Isabelle, Alcide, and Corren

Winter AIMS Secondary Schools Tournament

The momentum carried through to the Winter AIMS Secondary Schools Tournament, where our U16 Recurve Team of Seunghye, Ella, Vicki, and Arjunveer emerged as champions. In the individual events, Seunghye added yet another medal to her collection, winning silver in the U16 Recurve.

National and International Success
Outside of school competitions, Seunghye has continued to make her mark on the national and international stage. She is now a three-time New Zealand National Champion, winning:

• U16 Women Recurve Individual Ranking
• Youth Mixed Team Matchplay
• U16 Women Recurve Individual Matchplay

Her outstanding results earned her selection to represent New Zealand at the 2025 Trans-Tasman Challenge, where she competed against Australia’s best and came away with a silver medal in the U16 Women’s Recurve Ranking Round.

A Year to Remember
From growing participation numbers to consistent team and individual podium finishes, 2025 has proven to be the most successful competitive archery season in ACG Parnell’s history. With such a talented and committed group of young archers, the future of the sport at our school looks brighter than ever.
