ACG Parnell College is the top school in Auckland following the recent release of Metro magazine’s Best Schools list.

According to Metro’s rankings, the school is number one for University Entrance out of Auckland’s 96 secondary schools. This is a rise up the tables from 2nd last year.

ACG Parnell College’s UE rate was 98%, well above the private school average of 79%.

Principal Russell Brooke said it was fantastic to see the school take top spot in a strong period of growth and with a continued focus on providing all-round education.

“I’m delighted we have improved our academic results while the school continues to grow. We also have the vast majority of our children involved in sports and one of the largest music programmes in NZ, where we even have a full symphony orchestra. We are indeed providing something very special and unique in New Zealand.”

He said the school, which offers both the Cambridge curriculum and International Baccalaureate, was proud to encourage strong work habits and a culture of practice.

“We’re not afraid of exams and tests, be they performance, sporting or academic, as snapshots of performance and indicators of what next to learn and work on. Our students know stuff, are incredibly creative, want to be successful, view the world stage, and are confident and happy learners.

I feel privileged to be principal of this beautiful school; there is magic happening here.”
